O Brasil é um país cuja população negra é representada mais do que qualquer outra etnia, principalmente no Estado da Bahia cujo percentual é bastante significativo, fazendo dela, parte fundamental na essência da nossa cultura e na rica diversidade que existe no nosso país.
Brazil is a country in which the black population is greater than any other ethnic group, especially in the state of Bahia, where its percentage is quite significant. This representation gifts Bahian culture with a rich and diversified essence, that contributes to the distinctiveness of the nation's cultural mixture.
Tenho muita identificação com as pessoas que fotografo. Quando sou percebida, ora recebo um olhar, um gesto, um sorriso, uma palavra ou um diálogo. Isso para um fotógrafo é o que de mais importante e gratificante, aqui, ou em qualquer lugar no mundo.
I very much identify with the people I photograph. When I am noticed, sometimes I am given a glance, a gesture, a smile, a word, or am engaged in dialogue. This, for a photographer, is what is most important and gratifying, here or anywhere else in the world.
Por amar a Bahia e me identificar com nosso povo, foco meu trabalho nele, em suas expressões, no seu dia a dia na labuta do trabalho, nos costumes, nas suas crenças e tradições observando e captando nisso o belo, o autêntico e a natureza do ser.
Because I love Bahia and identify with our people, I focus my work on them, on their expressions, their everyday working struggle, their customs, beliefs and traditions. I observe and capture what is beautiful and authentic in these, as well as the nature of beings.
Sentir e congelar momentos é muito estimulante para mim, sinto-me plena. Conhecer as diversas culturas com meus próprios olhos, com minha câmera colada em mim, guardar as imagens na minha mente e depois tê-las pra sempre, é enriquecedor!
Feeling and freezing moments is very stimulating for me, I feel full. Knowing the different cultures with my own eyes, with my camera glued to me, keeping the images in my mind and then having them forever, is enriching!

The camera is a universal language and showing through my lenses a little of the portrait of Bahia is a way of honoring the people of my country with all respect, admiration and love.
