Sempre tive vontade de conhecer o Butão, tido como um dos lugares mais lindos do planeta, situado no topo do mundo, encravado na Cordilheira do Himalaia entre a Índia e a China e considerado "a pérola da humanidade".
Este pequeno país, viveu isolado até 1960, quando começou a ter contato com o resto do mundo. Devido à sua situação geográfica de difícil acesso e além de ter uma topografia muito acidentada, manteve- se um país isolado e, como consequência, preservou a harmonia e suas tradições.
Fundada por monges tibetanos há 4 séculos, onde a escravidão sobreviveu oficialmente até os meados do século 20, sua abolição deu-se em 1952 no reinado do pai do atual jovem monarca.
I have always wanted to visit Bhutan, one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Located at the top of the world, nestled in the Himalayan mountain range between India and China, it is considered the "pearl of humanity."
This small country, founded by Tibetan monks four centuries ago, was isolated until 1960, when it began to have contact with the rest of the world. Being difficult to reach due to its geographical situation, in addition to possessing a very rugged topography, Bhutan remained an isolated country. As a consequence, it preserved its harmony and traditions.
Slavery officially survived in Bhutan until the mid-20th century and was abolished in 1952, in the reign of the current young monarch's father.

Na subida para o Templo da Fertilidade, de repente senti um delicioso cheirinho vindo de um casebre na beira da estrada. Imediatamente, gulosa como sou, me apressei em pedir licença para entrar; para minha surpresa, tinha uma senhora sentada fazendo uma variedade de pão, iguaria da região, que era, simplesmente, divino!
On the way up to the Temple of Fertility, I suddenly noticed a delicious smell coming from a hut by the side of the road. Greedy as I am, I immediately hurried over to ask permission to enter; to my surprise, a woman was sitting there making a type of bread, a regional delicacy, which was simply divine!
Perto do Templo da Fertilidade, o Mosteiro Budista Chimi Lhakhang, já se vê imagens e símbolos fálicos pintados nas paredes de todas as casas, bem como pendurados nos beirais dos telhados. Segundo crença, eles afastam o mau-olhado, e abrem caminho para a fertilidade. Este templo é um dos mais visitados, principalmente por mulheres que querem ser mãe e que, por algum motivo, ainda não conseguiram.
As you draw near to the Temple of Fertility, the Buddhist Monastery Chimi Lhakhang, you can see phallic symbols painted on the walls of all the houses and hanging from the eaves of the roofs. According to popular belief, they ward off the evil eye and clear the way for fertility. This temple is one of the most visited by women, primarily by those wishing to be mothers, who, for some reason, have not yet succeeded.
Os butaneses vivem no campo, de forma sustentável, tirando da terra sua subsistência.
Em cada comunidade eles constroem “stupas”, lugares sagrados, onde costumam frequentar para reverenciar Buda, fazer pedidos e agradecer.
É costume, ao fazerem seus pedidos, pendurarem bandeiras coloridas, dentre elas algumas com versos sagrados, na certeza de que, ao soprar do vento se espalhe na região a paz, a compaixão e a sabedoria.
Não é linda a concepção e concretização deste ato? Eu me apaixonei de primeira!
The Bhutanese live in the countryside in a sustainable manner, drawing their livelihood from the land. In each community they build “stupas”, sacred places, where they go to worship Buddha, make requests, and give thanks.
When making a plea, it is customary to hang colored flags, including some with sacred verses on them. This ensures that, when the wind blows, peace, compassion, and wisdom will spread through the region.

Diferentemente da maioria de nós, ocidentais, os butaneses não isolam a morte. A morte e suas representações estão em toda parte, especialmente na iconografia budista, onde encontram-se ilustrações coloridas e macabras.
Unlike most of us Westerners, the Bhutanese do not cordon off death. Death and its representations are everywhere, especially in Buddhist iconography, where we find colorful
and macabre illustrations.
As crenças budistas são profundamente baseadas na reencarnação, daí existir a aceitação de que morrer faz parte da vida, o que é encarado com muita naturalidade; talvez por esse motivo, penso eu, existam tantas escolas de monges e tantas crianças e adolescentes já iniciando os estudos e a prática budista tão cedo.
Buddhist beliefs are deeply based on reincarnation, hence there is an acceptance that dying is part of life, and this is faced very naturally; that may be why, I think, there are so many schools of monks and so many children and teenagers beginning Buddhist studies and practice so early.
O Ninho do Tigre ( Tiger Nest), denominação dada ao famoso Taktsang Monatery é o cartão postal do país; segundo a lenda, o Guru Rinpoche teria chegado lá no século VIII, às costas de uma tigresa, e meditado por três anos, três meses, três semanas, três dias e três horas, introduzindo, o Budismo no Butão. Isso motivou a construção do monastério em torno da caverna, no século XVIII, e é sem dúvida, a maior atração do Butão para quem se aventura a subir até lá, percurso que demanda cinco horas ou mais.

Ao chegar o momento, olhei para cima e vendo o Monastério perto do céu, tive pensamentos de dúvida, medos e tentações para não ir, mas de repente, me senti desafiada por uma força interior muito grande que me fez vencer todas as barreiras e me jogar naquela aventura, que aliás, nem posso chamar de aventura e sim de uma necessidade espiritual de me superar.
Até certa altura, fiz o trajeto montada num cavalo, por mais ou menos uma hora; passei por caminhos estreitos e precipícios, muitas vezes morrendo de medo, fechava os olhos, até chegar ao patamar onde dava início a subida a pé. Longa , desafiante e maravilhosa caminhada...

Rios de água cristalina, florestas intocadas, uma rica fauna e paisagens paradisíacas o fazem ser considerado “o último éden do mundo”. E para conservar este paraíso ecológico, as tradições e seus habitantes no estado de felicidade, o turismo é limitado e com bastante exigências.
Rivers of crystal-clear water, untouched forests, rich fauna, and paradisiacal landscapes make this area known as “the last Eden in the world”. And in order to preserve this ecological paradise, its traditions, and inhabitants in a happy state, tourism is limited and has many requirements that must be met.
Ah minha chegada... me senti plena, realizada, vencedora de um grande desafio e feliz!
No Monastério, senti uma vibração espiritual nunca experimentada antes! Um sentimento de paz, de tudo que não consigo com palavras explicar! Agradeci, orei, fiquei em silêncio acho que meditando por uns minutos, porque naquele momento não pensei em nada, apenas senti! E, num gesto impetuoso e espontâneo, tirei do braço minha pulseira budista, adquirida na Índia, a qual nunca tirava dele, e coloquei no altar simples, pequeno e aconchegante do Buda. Este, sem dúvida foi um momento mágico e o melhor da minha estadia no Butão.
Visitei vários templos, pequenos museus e mosteiros nesta rica viagem e vi cenas únicas que não eram permitidas registrar com minha lente mas que estão na minha memória pelo resto da minha vida.
Ah, my arrival ... I felt myself to be the winner of a great challenge, complete, fulfilled, and happy! At the Monastery, I sensed a spiritual vibration I had never experienced before! It was a feeling of peace, of everything I can't explain in words. I gave thanks, prayed, and was silent, meditating for a few minutes, because at that moment I wasn't thinking about anything, just feeling! And, in an impetuous and spontaneous gesture, I removed the Buddhist bracelet, acquired in India, which I never took off my arm, and placed it on the simple, small, and welcoming altar of the Buddha. This was undoubtedly a magical moment and the best one of my stay in Bhutan.
I visited temples, small museums, and monasteries on this rich trip, and saw unique scenes that I wasn't allowed to register with my lens but will remain here in my memory for the rest of my life.
Conhecer de perto sua cultura, conviver e fotografar um pouco deste povo, que já era conhecido por mim como pessoas com alto grau de espiritualidade, pureza, simplicidade, alegria e apresentado ao mundo como o país que possui o maior índice de felicidade, me despertava grande curiosidade e me encantava.
To gain firsthand knowledge of this culture, to socialize with and photograph a little of these people, already known to me as people with a high degree of spirituality, purity, simplicity, and joy, from the country that is presented to the world as having the highest happiness index, was an experience that awakened great curiosity and delight in me.
